15 years ago I would have been 11 so quite young. I guess I’d say just be yourself and don’t worry about trying to fit in at school because you’re going to leave there someday and meet a way bigger group of people who have interests like yours.

15 years ago I was 8 years old, so I was still in primary school. I probably would tell myself to be more confident, and to try to ask more questions/be more inquisitive about the world. Sometimes we can think of the best questions, but not ask them. For example, I remember being told that liquids spread to occupy the container that they are in and thinking – “well, then if water is supposed to spread into a container, why does it form a droplet?” There is actually an answer to that which I learnt in college.

So, be curious, be confident, and don’t eat the flapjacks that are in the school cafĂ© because they are as hard as concrete and you might break your teeth.

I would have been 15 – I would love to tell myself to stop messing around and to start paying attention in class! I didn’t take school seriously and my life would have been a lot easier if I just learnt what my teachers were trying to teach me.

Fifteen years ago I had just started medical school and I was just settling into things, making friends and getting to know where I was living. So I think my advice would be – enjoy this! Later you’ll have more responsibility, but for now, make friends and go traveling!

That is exactly when I started my PhD. I would say you are doing great! Learn as much as you can and be confident, as you are hard-working and will do great! Confidence is so important in life (not only at work). I would also tell myself to enjoy life a bit more and worry less!

15 years ago I was 12 and in my first year in highschool so I would probably tell myself to be yourself and don’t worry too much about everyone liking you. I struggled with confidence in my early years in highschool so I think just being comfortable in your own skin is important.
