I like that the work is flexible and I’m in charge of how my project is run.

I love the fact that I’m constantly learning! When you’re a scientist, you work to answer questions that no one knew the answer to before. That means that you’re always finding new information out, especially since cancer is such a complex disease!

I love where I work because it’s right in the centre of Edinburgh, which is a fantastic city to live in. Also, the community at my work is really involved so there’s always something fun or interesting happening 🙂

I like that I work with people doing different types of research into the same disease. I get to try out new image analysis software which is a quite cool, training them to count and group tumour cells for me.

I like the people I work with, because sometimes you have a great result and it’s nice to share, but (more often!) you’re having problems with your experiments and need help – in those moments, it’s great to have colleagues to share that with!

I like that we’re a big team, so there are lots of people around doing different things that I can chat too. It’s also really useful when someone is stuck on an experiment or a problem because there is usually someone that can help.

I like how collaborative my job is – whether that’s asking someone in my group for help with a technique or working with a different group from a university on the other side of the world. I love hearing about other people’s research and how passionate they are about what they do!
