History – I absolutely loved to see how patterns, people and populations interact to create these huge tides of change. Sometimes, reading history can be more shocking that any episode of prestige television – it is fascinating. It is an interest that I have held on to by examining the history of Edinburgh medicine and the Royal Medical Society.

History – I had great teachers, and there was so much you could learn from the past that relates to the present. I also found it fascinating how so many major events were driven by random things related to individual people – like one person liking or not liking someone else, or someone just happening to be at the right place at the right time.
